PSLE 2026 exam dates: 24 to 30 September — those papers are over

Every written paper, its start time and its duration — the complete record of the 2026 PSLE week, taken from the official 2026 PSLE Timetable, with the source named so you can check it yourself.

The 2026 PSLE is over — the last paper was Higher Mother Tongue on 30 September 2026 Dates and times checked against SEAB's rules booklet on 23 September 2026. SEAB has not published the 2027 timetable yet; when it does, this page carries the 2027 dates and the day we checked them PSLE results: SEAB’s published window is Tue 24 – Wed 25 November 2026 (tentative) — checked on SEAB’s Important Dates page, 13 October 2026

Short answer: The PSLE 2026 written papers ran Thursday 24 September to Wednesday 30 September 2026 and they are finished — English on 24 September, Mathematics on 25 September, Mother Tongue on 28 September, Science on 29 September, and Higher Mother Tongue on 30 September. Morning papers started at 0815, and the oral papers were held on 12 and 13 August. If your child sits PSLE in 2027: SEAB has not published the 2027 timetable, so this page does not invent one — the written papers are expected in the same last week of September, and the official 2027 dates will appear here, dated, the day SEAB prints them.

What to bring to each paper — and what to leave at home

This is the packing list SEAB gives candidates in its rules booklet, not a general checklist. The left column is allowed inside the examination venue; the right column is not, and a phone that goes off in a hall is the fastest way to lose a paper.

BringLeave at home — or hand in at the door
  • 2B pencils, a soft eraser and a sharpener
  • Black (recommended) or dark blue ballpoint pens
  • Ruler, protractor and set-square, with nothing printed on them
  • A water bottle — drinking is allowed, eating is not
  • An approved scientific calculator, for Mathematics Paper 2 only
  • An approved dictionary, for Mother Tongue Paper 1 only
  • Spare batteries, if the calculator or dictionary uses them
  • Mobile phone, smart watch, smart glasses, earphones or wireless earbuds, fitness or step tracker
  • Tablet, pocket PC, digital diary, e-book reader, camera, audio recorder or player, gaming or storage device
  • Notes, books, loose papers, sticky notes or any writing paper
  • A conversion table or formula sheet, including one printed inside a calculator cover or a mathematical set

If a phone or a watch is already in the bag, SEAB's instruction is to hand it to the invigilator immediately: a candidate who surrenders a device before the paper begins is not penalised. Hiding it is the mistake, not owning it.

The two rules parents ask about most

Calculators. Allowed for Mathematics Paper 2 and Foundation Mathematics Paper 2 only — never for Paper 1, and never in another subject. The model must be on SEAB's approved list, silent, with a visual display only, and must show its brand and model clearly so an invigilator can check it. SEAB states plainly that a calculator fault is not accepted as grounds for special consideration, so pack spare batteries. Calculators cannot be shared or borrowed during a paper.

Dictionaries. An approved printed or electronic dictionary is allowed for Mother Tongue Paper 1 (Composition) and Higher Mother Tongue Paper 1. Not for any other paper.

The approved calculator models are listed at go.gov.sg/seab-approvedcalculators. Check the model against that list before results week turns into a shopping trip.

Arrive for the reporting time, not the paper time

SEAB requires a candidate to be seated at their assigned desk at least 15 minutes before each paper starts — so at the desk by 0800 for a 0815 paper — and no make-up time is given to a candidate who is late without a valid reason. Schools set their own reporting time, which is earlier than that desk time, so the number worth asking your school for is the reporting time itself. School-approved attire is required; a full uniform is not.

If your child is unwell on exam morning

Ring the school before the paper, not after it. SEAB's instructions for unexpected situations are specific about why the timing matters.

Feeling unwell. Tell the school immediately and take the school's advice before the paper starts. If a doctor is seen, ask for the diagnosis to be written on the medical certificate or the doctor's letter — SEAB asks for the diagnosis, not only a date.

Hospitalised, or a contagious illness such as chicken pox or hand, foot and mouth disease: tell the school as soon as a doctor has seen your child. The school can ask SEAB to make arrangements for your child to sit, but two conditions have to hold — a qualified medical practitioner certifies your child fit to sit the paper, and the request reaches SEAB through the school before that paper starts.

A paper already missed. The school is the channel to SEAB and the decision is SEAB's, not ours. We do not give medical or school-posting advice, and we will not guess at an outcome.

What the 2026 papers exposed — and what a P5 parent does now

The first written paper is English on Thursday 24 September, and the last is Higher Mother Tongue on Wednesday 30 September. In that time nobody learns a whole syllabus. What does change is the handful of mistakes still costing marks: the fraction question read as a ratio, the Science answer that explains the "what" but not the "why", the comprehension answer written as a summary instead of evidence.

That is the one job Kyly Tuition does. The free 3-minute diagnostic maps your child's weak topics, and the free month of daily drills gives practice in English, Maths, Science and Chinese — every wrong answer explained the way you would explain it, if you had the time. Mathematics Paper 2 is written working and carries 50 of the 100 marks, so the problem-sum practice marks each step, not just the final answer.

Free for a month from the day you register. The daily drills, problem sums, the playground and up to 10 guided sittings cost nothing for that month, in every subject, with no card and no subscription — and three short questions at the end earn another free month if you want one. Prices after that, and what a session includes, are on the home page. What we are not: we are not a replacement for school or for a good human teacher, and we do not teach new syllabus content — we find and drill the gaps a child already has. If your child needs a topic taught from scratch in four days, a teacher is the right call, not an app.

Where these dates come from

Every date, time and exam-day rule above is taken from the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board's own publications, not from memory or from another website:
  • SEAB, 2026 PSLE Rules and Regulations — Annex A: 2026 PSLE Timetable (oral, listening and written papers with times and durations), page 27–29. Read at file.go.gov.sg/seab-rulesandregulations-psle.pdf on 23 September 2026.
  • SEAB, 2026 PSLE Rules and Regulations — paragraphs 8.1–8.13 (punctuality, being seated 15 minutes early, permitted stationery, banned devices), section 9 (dictionaries), section 10 (approved scientific calculators, Mathematics Paper 2 only), section 12 (unexpected situations) and Annex B (items allowed and disallowed). Read at file.go.gov.sg/seab-rulesandregulations-psle.pdf on 21 September 2026.
  • SEAB important dates for candidates — seab.gov.sg/important-dates-for-candidates, checked 21 September 2026.
Schools confirm reporting times, venues and any arrangements for a pupil sitting a paper at a different venue. When SEAB publishes a change, this page changes with it — the check date is printed at the top.

Questions parents ask

When were the PSLE 2026 written papers?

The written papers ran from Thursday 24 September to Wednesday 30 September 2026: English on 24 September, Mathematics on 25 September, Mother Tongue Language on 28 September, Science on 29 September and Higher Mother Tongue Language on 30 September.

What time did each PSLE 2026 paper start?

Morning papers started at 0815 h. English Paper 1 ran 0815–0925 h (Paper 2, 1030–1220 h), Mathematics Paper 1 ran 0815–0925 h (Paper 2, 1030–1150 h), Mother Tongue Paper 1 ran 0815–0905 h (Paper 2, 1015–1155 h), Science ran 0815–1000 h, and Higher Mother Tongue Paper 1 ran 0815–0905 h (Paper 2, 1015–1135 h).

When do the oral and listening papers take place?

The oral examinations were held on Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 August 2026, 0800–1330 h. Listening Comprehension was held on Tuesday 15 September 2026 — English Language 1115–1150 h, Mother Tongue Language (Chinese, Malay, Tamil) 0900–0935 h.

When are the PSLE 2026 results released?

SEAB's own Important Dates page carries a tentative PSLE results window of Tuesday 24 to Wednesday 25 November 2026, and says the release can only be confirmed once all marking and processing are complete; the 2026 marking exercise runs 12 to 14 October. Schools tell pupils the confirmed day at least a week before. We publish the window SEAB prints and do not invent a day beyond it — checked on SEAB's page, 13 October 2026.

Can my child use a calculator for PSLE Mathematics?

Yes, but only for Mathematics Paper 2 (and Foundation Mathematics Paper 2), and only a SEAB-approved model. Paper 1 is a no-calculator paper, and no other subject allows a calculator. The calculator must be silent, with a display only, and must show its brand and model clearly; SEAB states that a calculator fault is not accepted as grounds for special consideration, and calculators cannot be shared or borrowed during the paper.

What must my child bring to a PSLE paper?

2B pencils, a soft eraser, a sharpener, a black or dark blue ballpoint pen, a ruler, protractor and set-square with no formulas printed on them, and a water bottle. Phones, smart watches, earphones, tablets and other electronic devices must stay out of the examination venue, and notes, books, writing paper and any conversion table or formula sheet are not allowed.

What if my child is sick on the morning of a PSLE paper?

Tell the school immediately and ask for advice before the paper starts. If a doctor is seen, ask for the diagnosis to be written on the medical certificate or letter. If your child is hospitalised or has a contagious illness such as chicken pox or HFMD, the school can request arrangements from SEAB, but a doctor must certify your child fit to sit and the request must reach SEAB before that paper begins.

What time must my child be in the exam hall?

SEAB requires candidates to be seated at their assigned desk at least 15 minutes before each paper starts — so by 0800 for the 0815 papers — and no make-up time is given for lateness without a valid reason. Schools set an earlier reporting time of their own, so ask the school for that time.

How long is the break between Mother Tongue Paper 1 and Paper 2?

One hour and ten minutes. Mother Tongue Paper 1 ends at 0905 and Paper 2 begins at 1015 on Monday 28 September 2026, and Paper 2 runs 1 hour 40 minutes. Use the gap for water, a snack and the toilet — not last-minute notes. Higher Mother Tongue keeps the same 0905 to 1015 gap on 30 September.

What can my child practise now the 2026 papers are over?

Kyly Tuition's PSLE practice bank is free, in all four subjects, and every family also gets a free month of everything from the day they register. It holds 113 practice questions — English 44 (32 of them for Sec 1 and Sec 2), Mathematics 21, Science 24 and Chinese 24 — and 339 explanations, one for each wrong option, naming the thinking error that produced it. No signup and no card.
